CENTRO TRAC

Does the Centro system come in finishes other than aluminum?

Due to the conductivity properties of the Centro Trac and its components, it cannot be painted. Contact factory for Hand Rubbed Bronze finish.

Is the Centro system “remote power” only?

A Surface Decorative Power Supply option (300W transformer or 70W driver) is available for applications where a remote power supply is not an option.

What Power Supply do you recommend?

The type of Power Supply required relates to the Tegan Spot specified and the total system wattage. When using Soraa lamps, in-rush current must also be taken into consideration when determining total system wattage. Refer to Soraa’s web site or refer to Tegan Specification Sheet MR-16 LED #TG70 for details. Note that Centro System can operate with 24VDC drivers for the dedicated LED Spots (Pico 1, Pico 3, etc.) or 12VAC step down transformers for MR-16 Spots. Note that 12VAC transformers are available in magnetic or electronic; keep in mind that electric transformers, as a rule, cannot be mounted more than 12’ away from the Centro System. If longer remote distances are required, the use of magnetic is recommended. Refer to Specification Sheet Power Supplies – Trac #TG13 for details.

Can power supplies be supplied “by others” for Tegan Trac Systems?

Power supplies can be provided “by others” however, unless they are the exact specification of Tegan Lighting

standard power supplies listed on the specification sheet(s), use of alternative power supply(s) that have not been formally ETL tested to UL standards with our complete system voids the listing and product warranty. This is a testing requirement as per UL testing standards. If the project requires a power supply other that what we have listed, please contact us for options.

I find it hard to specify and think I am missing parts

Think in steps! First calculate the number of 8ft. sections needed to get to your run’s length. Based on the number of CT8-AL, how many couplers will you need (CC-straight or CAC- adjustable/angle)? End caps are mandatory for proper electrical function and come as a pair (so one set per run).

Then, you need to “mount” your track – we recommend every 48”. We have different anchoring options: CCA- Centro Ceiling Anchors are for a close to surface mounting option. CCAS-Centro Ceiling Anchor Stem or CCAC- Centro Ceiling Anchor Cable come as a standard 5’, field-cuttable option and suspends the track from the surface. CPWA- Centro Power Wall Anchor anchors to the wall and serves as a power feed at the same time. Be sure to include a Spot connector; one per Spot.

Select a power feed (often based on the anchoring system chosen: suspended track will required the CPC-Centro Power Canopy for length, systems using the CCA-Centro Ceiling Anchor fit well with the CSFC-Centro Single Feed Canopy). Keep in mind that the Power Feed will need a remote Power Supply.

Be sure to think about how the system(s) need to be controlled and the appropriate number of power supplies; i.e. is each run controlled together, separately or in groups?

Finally, when selecting your spot/luminaire, remember to include a CTC- Centro Trac Connector to mount and feed your spot onto the track.

Can Centro Trac components be used on existing Translite installations?

It is our understanding that many Tegan components can be installed on Translite systems, however, Tegan Lighting is not responsible for compatibility or operation of any such installation. Note as per UL testing standards, any Tegan components installed on any system(s) other than Tegan Lighting components will void the listing and warranty.

Is Centro two-circuit?

The Centro rail is one circuit but you can specify the Centro Dual Mount Bracket for suspending two parallel runs of Centro Trac. Allows for two-circuit installation of multiple Spotlights with a field-cuttable cable. Separate Power Feeds are required per run.

Can the factory cut the Centro Trac and related “field cuttable” components “to length” if desired?

Yes, the factory can cut the extrusions and related components to length for a fee, if this is easier for the installing contractor. Just add the lengths desired for each component to the project specification.

Can Centro Trac be used outside or in damp location applications?

Centro Trac is listed for interior applications only.

Can Centro Trac be custom curved?

The Centro Trac is bendable at the factory. To submit a request for a curved Centro system, please provide CAD drawings and we will create a Simple/Complex Engineered System Drawing with a complete BOM (Bill of Material). A CAD drawing is required so Engineering can determine the accurate scale for the layout. Centro Trac is not field-bendable.

Are all of Tegan’s Spots compatible with the Centro system?

All of the Luminaires and Spotlights (LED, Halogen/MR16) can be mounted on the Centro System with one of the appropriate Centro Connectors with the exception of the “Axis” (Duplex Cable only).

RETRAC

Can power supplies be supplied “by others” for Tegan Trac Systems?

Power supplies can be provided “by others” however, unless they are the exact specification of Tegan Lighting

standard power supplies listed on the specification sheet(s), use of alternative power supply(s) that have not been formally ETL tested to UL standards with our complete system voids the listing and product warranty. This is a testing requirement as per UL testing standards. If the project requires a power supply other that what we have listed, please contact us for options.

Note that Retrac System can operate with 24VDC drivers for the dedicated LED Spots (Pico 1, Pico 3, etc.) or 12VAC step down transformers for MR-16 Spots. Note that 12VAC transformers are available in magnetic or electronic; keep in mind that electric transformers, as a rule, cannot be mounted more than 10’ away from the Retrac System. If longer remote distances are required, the use of magnetic is recommended. Refer to Specification Sheet Power Supplies – Trac #TG13 for details.

Can the Retrac system be suspended?

You can suspend the “Retrac Surface Channel” and the components on a standard Unistrut. Unistrut and hardware provided by others or contact Tegan Lighting for factory options.

Can Retrac be used outside or in damp location applications?

Retrac is listed for interior applications only.

Is Retrac two-circuit?

Not at this time.

Can the factory cut the Retrac extrusions “to length” if desired?

Yes, the factory can cut the extrusions to length if this is easier for the installing contractor. Just add the lengths desired to the project specification.

Do I need a Retrac End Cap?

If you are using the “Retrac Recessed Channel”, end caps are not needed since the channels will be mudded in and the ends not visible. For “Retrac Surface Channel” applications, one end of the track must have an end cap while the other will have the power feed.

Do I need a Retrac cover?

The Retrac cover is specified separately and is not mandatory. It is purely aesthetic and covers the track so that the “insides” are not visible. It is field paintable so a recessed application can “disappear” completely once painted. The standard aluminum finish complements well on a surface mount application.

How do I insert the Retrac connector to make proper connection?

An easy way to insert the Retrac connector is to ensure the brass tabs are within the connector (not expanded) and to lift the ring to allow the “square” piece to rotate freely. Firmly push the connector down to the bottom of the inner trac, rotate the square piece to fall in place (it is actually narrower on one side to fit in the channel properly) and twist the ring, which will in turn lock the connector in place and expand the brass pads.

Are all of Tegan’s Spots compatible with the Retrac system?

All of the Spotlights (LED, Halogen/MR16) can be mounted on the Retrac System with the appropriated Retrac Connector (RTCN) with the exception of the “Axis” (Duplex Cable only) and “Luz” (Centro Trac only).

Does the Retrac system come in finishes other than aluminum?

The factory can paint parts of the Retrac series. Please submit a request to your agent who will contact the factory about availability, lead time and cost.

Is the Retrac system “remote power supply” only?

Yes the design of Retrac is minimalist. Power supplies are remote mount. Refer to Specification Sheet Power Supplies – Trac #TG13 for details.

KORE AMBIENT & LINEAR

Is the stem or the clear SJ cord, field cuttable?

Yes, refer to installation instructions on our web site for details.

Can I remote power my Kore Ambient/Kore Linear Pendant?

We can remote power your Kore Pendant by placing the driver in a Large Power Supply Enclosure that can be located maximum 25 ft. from the pendant. A licensed electrician would have to wire to the fixture to the power supply following code procedures. Contact the factory for details.

Where is the power supply located?

We provide the option to recess your driver in an enclosure (RDE) or to surface mount it (SMDE). If needed, we can assist with remote powering your pendants as well (see below and contact factory). Each pendant must be powered by its own driver.

Are the pendants dimmable?

Yes, please make sure you select the appropriate dimmable driver. We offer 0-10V dimming as well as Lutron.

Do I need to specify if 120/277V?

Our Kore Pendants drivers are multi voltage and will accommodate 120V or 277V. The Kore Linear products (pendant or wall/surface) comes standard at 120V but we offer adders for 277V so specification is required for proper installation/function. Please contact the factory for Lutron drivers or other preferences/request.

How easily can we replace the LED chip? Can I request another color temperature?

The Kore Ambient LED chip can be ordered with a alternative Kelvin temperature or CRI. Please contact the factory for a quote. We offer a 3 years warranty on all of our products and can offer a five year system warranty as needed. The LED chip can be replaced in the field but only by a trained professional with work instruction provided by the factory. Contact the factory for details.

Why choose DHO over DSO?

A high output driver increases the lumen package on your fixture. We recommend using a high output (DHO) whenever a pendant is specified with a shade to ensure proper illumination.

Which “Gem” should I choose for my Kore Ambient Quadrant?

The decision is up to you! Our Sphere Gem, which is frosted, provides better light distribution at higher angles which is key when used inside a shade. The Tapered Cylinder Gem with clear acrylic and frosted interior, provide more downward component with soft side illumination.

Why can’t I use a clear SJ cord with a metal or fabric shade?

The SJ cord (clear) is a standard part on the Kore Ambient Pendants and may be used in combination with the Zia or Labyrinth shade. For Noor Drums, Square, Moz Slot, Moz Weave or large/heavier shades, please use the Single Stem (adder). As per UL code, an SJ cord can only be used with shades < 12lbs.

Can the Kore Ambient heat sink be painted?

Though we cannot powder coat the heat sink, we can offer special order anodized finishes. Please contact the factory details.

I have ordered a Sphere/Tapered Gem on my Zia fixture and I have received something different.

When we ship out the Zia, we swap the Gem on order (if not specified correctly) for a “Mini-Gem”. It is a shorter, more diffuse Gem that provides better light distribution at higher angles to properly illuminate the Zia.

Do I need to specify a pendant when I select a shade?

Yes. Tegan’s Kore Products are modular. It allows you to select the appropriate design for your application. For example, a drum shade (Noor, Moz) or Labyrinth shade would be specified with a Kore Ambient pendant (Orb/Quad). A rectilinear shade or wall sconce would be specified with our Kore Linear products
